Film

I grew up creating short films with my friends. Below are some videos I've created/co-created.

Lost at Sea

June 2023

This is a short film I created for a community performance party with family and friends.

It was entirely made using footage from the internet, video style transfer, and text to video generation using RunwayML. This method of creating short films was deeply gratifying. Opens my mind to the uncertain but (IMO) beautiful future of filmmaking.

Rapid Transit

February 2016

Bart is the mass public transit system that links that Bay Area together, with stations spanning across Richmond to Fremont to San Fransisco. From the time it was released in 1972, the dynamic has changed quite a bit. In this short film we want to highlight those differences, by taking you through a full ride of Bart.

Rapid Transit was accepted into:
Clear the Air Film Festival - San Fransisco
Frozen Film Festival - San Fransisco
Cine Youth - Chicago
Albany FilmFest - Albany
CASF International - San Fransisco
NFFTY - Seattle

Autotelic

May 2019

This film shows the friendship between two graffiti friends. Their friendship and what they do is representative of their attitude towards life. They enjoy things for the purpose in itself. For the sake of enjoying the moment, each other's company, and the creation of art. They don't live transactional lives, they don't aspire for some end goal, the reason is no reason.

March 2016

Based on the video game "Hotline Miami"

Directed by Aaren Stade

Visual Effects Demo Reel (13 year old Aaren)

February 2014

I was really into visual effects as a kid. My gateway drug was an after school class in 5th grade learning Autodesk Maya (an extremely lucky opportunity that got me obsessed with creative software in general). That led me to learn After Effects and combine the two to create VFX for short films.
